Smart development emphasizes a highly connected society between people, things and the environment by integrating cyberspace and physical space, as symbolized by Japan\u2019s Society 5.0. This transdisciplinary field fosters human resources that can contribute to smart development, especially the development of smart mobility, smart energy, smart agriculture, and smart health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transdisciplinary Field of Resilient Development<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u300c\u30ec\u30b8\u30ea\u30a8\u30f3\u30c8\u306a\u767a\u5c55\u300d\u878d\u5408\u9818\u57df<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Resilient development refers to the social and economic development that does not bring damages (e.g., fatalities, accidents, landslides, flooding, loss of biodiversity, infections) to nature and humans and protects nature and humans from damages caused by natural disasters, human activities, and crises like pandemics, etc. Pre-event preparedness, during-event actions, and after-event recovery and re-growth are three domains of resilient development. This transdisciplinary field fosters human resources that can contribute to resilient development related to disaster prevention and adaptation, safety and security, biodiversity conservation, pandemic control and recovery, and social inclusion, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Field of Science Development<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u300c\u79d1\u5b66\u306e\u767a\u5c55\u300d\u9818\u57df<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Science development emphasizes that only fact-based scientific thinking can enable sustainable development that harmonizes the development of human society and the protection of nature. In today\u2019s Anthropocene, as symbolized by Great Acceleration, human beings have dramatically improved their quality of life, while imposing huge and sometimes irreversible impacts on the entire earth system. Science is fundamental to sustainable development that mitigates the impacts of Great Acceleration by assisting the exploration of correct pathways of the development of human society.
