Transdisciplinary Science & Engineering  (TSE) Program

Science development

Science development emphasizes that only fact-based scientific thinking can enable sustainable development that harmonizes the development of human society and the protection of nature. In today’s Anthropocene, as symbolized by Great Acceleration, human beings have dramatically improved their quality of life, while imposing huge and sometimes irreversible impacts on the entire earth system. Science is fundamental to sustainable development that mitigates the impacts of Great Acceleration by assisting the exploration of correct pathways for the development of human society. This field fosters human resources that can contribute to science development related to all existing disciplines.
